Teluk Tempoyak Seafood. Nam Prik at its best!

Yet another makan-makan hot spot when some one reaches Penang. Ain't Penang is just awesome for travelers?! I went to this place, at Batu Maung if I'm not mistaken for the first time with families from hubby's side after the wedding reception in 2009. And we keep on returning to this place again and again.. The main attraction here are non other than the famous fresh seafood plus fast & efficient customer service!

The Ascott Residence Jakarta. Ideal short stay accommodation!

Just realized that I haven't posted the hotel review of the place we were staying during Jakarta trip end of last year. I shall make this entry just short and simple as the event was quite sometime now. Hehe. We were staying at The Ascott Residence. Hubby was actually on a short attachment in Jakarta those days. Before leaving Malaysia he asked me to make a survey (like always) regarding the place that he should be staying. His friends were staying at few other places which were nearer to the office but quite a distance from the malls. My main concern is definitely hubby's tummy when he's away from home. Dia ni, makan minum kene cukup setiap hari. So I decided to pick The Ascott (eh macam cik isteri pulak yang kerja kan). The Ascott is located just beside Grand Indonesia Shopping Town, the biggest mall in Jakarta and it's quite new. Moreover, I've been to The Ascott Kuala Lumpur years before and I think it was.. not bad.

The apartment we were staying was a 2 bedroom + 1 maid's room + 2 bathroom + kitchen and it was BIG and cozy! I get to know from the Trip Advisor that the place was under renovation (by stages) as the current rooms had undergone outdated interior designs, normal wear and tear and what nots lah. But I don't really mind as hubby was the one who's gonna live in that room and I don't think he's gonna really care about it. Haha. Boleh mandi selesa, tido selesa, tengok tv selesa, buat kerja selesa etc. That is more than enough for any normal guys I guess. Furthermore, I'll be staying there for only 2 weeks and Grand Indonesia is just a few steps away so I'm cool. Hehehe

About 40mins taxi ride from Bandara Soekarno Hatta and you'll be amazed when reaching the lobby.
Do you notice the Javanese painting and craft? This is so Indonesia!

Interesting wall art that can be found all over the building.

This is the restaurant. It was among the places that had been fully renovated during my visit. Everything seemed so new and clean and shining. Hehe. The only drawback I experienced was the food. The selections of food was small. The cut fruits weren't fresh as I expected. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. Moderately rated for a classy serviced residence like Ascott. Or maybe it was just my bad day perhaps?

Large window in our room. It covers the whole living and dining area. The building in the picture is actually a mall, I've forgotten the name already. But sorry to say I hate it. The mall's air conditioning system had seriously congested with the cigarette's smoke! I almost fainted when I went there for the first time. Huhu. Anyway, Plaza Indonesia is about 5mins taxi ride from The Ascott. See that? Shopping just gone crazy if your're staying at the right place. Haha

Oh the kids play area is huge too. It is situated beside the pool. Faheem conquered the place all by himself. I thought he would be happy with that but surprisingly he's not. Well the place was a bit far from the lobby and no body is going there during morning. It was just (most of the time) the two of us and I think Faheem found it quite creepy. He will call me to stay next to him each time he's trying new toys at the place. Huhu. That's all for now. Thumbs up for The Ascott Jakarta anyway. We will return one fine day. Esok cuti! Happy Wesak day Malaysians!

Penang Street Art / Penang Wall Painting. Fantastic!

I started to notice many of my fellow friends continuously posting so many interesting yet funny and meaningful wall paintings captured in Penang town this year. So during our balik kampung trip last few weeks, I decided to witness by myself the beautiful wall arts. We managed to spot many of them but I'm only able to snap 2 pictures. Speaking of traveling with two small kids? Hehehe..

This kind of creativity excites me the most as it involves 2D plus 3D art!

And this one too at Cannon Street. That's my boy in red =)

Initially I thought the painting were done by the local Penangites. But it's not. I figured out from that all the paintings were sketched by a Lithuanian artist, Earnest Zacharevic in conjunction with Penang Georgetown FestivalDecember last year. I believe the brilliant ideas came from Mr. Zach too? You may click OnlyPenang website for more clearer images! Frankly speaking, this thing just add up more reasons for our next Penang road trip. Like seriously!

The Ridge - Teja by The Sea. Nice restaurant with breathtaking views.

Each time we went back to hubby's home town my family in law will surely bring us to the famous seafood centers in Penang. And this time, we were brought to newly opened restaurant (just operated last year) at Batu Kawan, named The Ridge - Teja by The Sea. But I'm a bit disappointed with the pictures (or shall I say memories?) I've taken tough. I'm not in the mood to really capturing wonderful static-events that night. Well let the story below reasons out why.
Earlier that day we went strolling around Penang as usual when I suddenly noticed Ayra started to be cranky and uncomfortable and moments after that I realized her body temperature had risen up. My bad, I've left the thermometer and paracetamol at my MIL's home =( I usually keep them neat in the diaper bag when ever we went for traveling. So that day around 4pm we were busy searching for clinics and guess what, we found 8 clinics and all of them were closed on Sunday? Gosh.. Finally I told hubby to stop by Penang Adventist Hospital as I know that hospital is a JCI accredited hospital (I should be getting the best service here, I whispered to myself).
Her temperature was 39.9 deg Celsius that time! The doctor asked weather we wish Ayra to be admitted and I said NO at that instant. Huhu. The doctor was polite, the hospital was clean and organized, the security guard was super friendly and the best part of all, the medications are perfect, no generics. Got in the car, fed Ayra her meds and she's fine half an hour later. Alhamdulillah.. Eh parking fee only 50 cents ok. Pfft Prince Court? Hihi. We rushed back home as we already promised Mak to be ready for big family dinner lepas maghrib but we only managed to reach home lepas Isya'. Penat sangat ok. I know everybody was in hunger because of us, thousand apology.. Huk.
My sisters in law had mentioned so many times about Pulau Aman ever since I arrived home. 1. The floating restaurant 2. The gastronomic cuisine. Me myself was seriously eager and all excited to go there but not the husband. He said his body was aching real bad and his head was kind of spinning that day, selepas edisi rushing sana sini sebab Ayra demam. Huhu. So we decided to dine in at The Ridge saja. Next time balik kampung lagi nak pergi jugak Pulau Aman ok! Hehehe..

It took us about 20mins to reach the place from MIL's home. If you were a first timer just turn on the GPS and search Stadium Batu Kawan or Jeti Pulau Aman or The Ridge itself. Last time The Ridge hasn't been captured in our Garmin yet. As it was quite late, there was no crowd but the live brand was still performing. Niceee. Oh one more thing, if you were traveling by night make sure there are accompanies who knows the route as it was pitch black! No lampu jalan once you have passed the stadium. By the way, the place was huge and facing the Penang bridge!

Penang bridge

We were greeted by the staff with friendly smiles upon arriving at the destination. They were kind enough to provide us the portable cooler seeing that Tok was carrying Ayra who was sleeping. Memang terbaik. Looking at the menu, I wasn't surprised with the wide varieties! But me and husband was some how not that hungry. We already had chicken rice at Gurney Plaza that day (lebih kepada penat je la sebenarnya). But hubby ordered lamb chop just to give it a try and we shared the meal.

The lamb was quite liat but the mashed potato and black pepper sauce was good.

Few of them ordered the seafood grill and others just ala cart. Syok kan main2 barbecue with the family. Hehehe. There were salmon, beef and chicken slices and all of them were fresh. There's nothing to be complaint. Well, that's all for the reviews. On my next visit (insyaAllah), I wish to have late lunch or early dinner as the view should be much more inspiring. Will definitely return!

Umai-Ya Japanese Restaurant. A fine treat!

We had an appointment with our dear friend Maria yesterday and she was kind enough to treat us Japanese cuisine for lunch. Yippi! Me and husband don't really do sushi but I tried Sushi King last month and my first attempt went well so the second attempt should be just fine I reckon. Hehe. Hubby at first decided to switch the meeting plus lunch to Chilli's but I overruled him. Haha. I wanted sushi dear!

Umai-Ya KLCC. Nice anime painting at the entrance.
We chose the perfect seat, there at the waitress. Hehe

We ordered 4 different dishes as above at first. It was so good! Especially the seafood sizzling on the right bottom. The creamy sauce was lip smacking. The bottom left was indeed yummy too, that was Maria's favorite. Don't ask me what was the name of each dishes, haha. But that one falls in the crunchy/fried sushi. The biggest portion was that one so I can say that the most kenyang dish was that one. Heheh. Done with the first round we decided to add in a few dish sebab lapar lagi. Huhu

The bottom one was something named with dynamite and the upper one was Salmon wrap. Hubby as expected, loves the raw salmon. He ate almost half of the salmon dish. And the total for this heavenly lunch was almost RM200. Luckily dearest Maria was paying. Haha. Thanks babe. All the best for your Amsterdam and Paris trip. Safe journey and don't forget the souvenirs!

Pecel Lele Lela Restaurant, Malaysia. Thumbs up!

We went to have lunch here last week, Pecel Lele Lela. Hubby wanted to have lunch at Leha Kelfood but as expected (during lunch hours?) there was no parking space available near to the well-known nasi-campur ala pantai-timur premise. We only managed to find a spot just in front of Pecel Lele Lela so hubby asked me why don't we just dine in here? Me, malas nak jalan jauh tengah panas ok kan saja considering this outlet is still new (kalau tak sedap pun, takdela sakit hati sangat sebab everything is still new and clean). Heheheh

I love the green and white combination. So relaxing.

Upon entering the premise the staff greeted us Selamat Datang or Selamat Siang, I forgot already. And that reminds me of my trip to Jakarta last year. The workers greeted us cheerfully each time we were entering any restaurants (with smiling face and a slight bow). We felt really honored each time the dining hours arrived during our getaway at Jakarta. I still remember when I dropped by Old Town White Coffee at Bandara Soekarno Hatta. Baru lepas hujan panas kut that time, and it was sizzling hot! But the staff greeted us with a broad smile and mind you he was sweating all over his shirt too! Rasa terharu sangat. So plan asal nak minum je, terus order jugak some food sebab terkesima dengan layanan baik mereka. See that?

Flipped over the menu and only that we knew that Pecel Lele Lela was originated form Indonesia. The workers are also Indonesian (I think so, because they carry the Indonesian accent pretty well). And the food review?

Ayam bakar madu for me. Sedap and it tasted so fresh! (Kalau dekat Bumbu Desa nampak sangat they heated the chicken with microwave before serving. Huhu). Sambal tu pun sedap, not too spicy like many others Indonesian food.

Kangkung was not bad too.

Hubby's lele cabe ijo? He said yummy! Sampai tambah nasik satu pinggan, he also took a quarter of my plate. Berselera habis. Anyway, we used to have lunch a Bumbu Desa KLCC and Bumbu Desa Festival City many times but I think this place won in terms of freshness of their food. Nonetheless I really hope that this place will maintain the cleanliness of their premise as from my own self observation, eateries tend to loose sight of the importance of cleanliness when they started to receive too many customers. Will definitely return to this place.
